ABOUT ME

I'm a former student of ethnomusicology / I love crossword puzzles! / Food memoirs are my favorite book genre / I admire people who are incredibly poised and who use their bodies with ease and grace / I believe in dressing with the intention of expressing and impressing yourself / I think spending time outside is important.

About my title...
I'm very attracted to patterns that incorporate a lot of colors/textures/angular shapes. That's why I can't resist fair isle designs, navajo prints, thick, nubby sweaters, and fair-isle-navajo-sweaters.

I'll admit I've spent some time thinking about the complicatedness of using "navajo" as a descriptor in my blog. Its use in relation to blankets and other textiles is, all puns aside, woven into a sociohistorical context in which economics plays a central role. Mo money, mo problems, more incredible designs creep into our everydaywear. I should borrow a book to brush up on the developments that have taken place since the beginnings of the American blankets that most people have heard of, through the many iterations, adaptations, and modifications which have led us to present day. Where, wouldn't you know, you can find "navajo" prints anywhere from Forever 21 at the mall to Pendleton's Portland Collection.

About my fair-isle-navajo print...
I made the print underneath my title in MS Paint, more or less by coloring in graph paper squares. Then I mashed a bunch of buttons in other MS programs until it looked hip, like it does now. It was therapeutic.

About the sweet font used for my title...
It is called Zooth Shaded and I downloaded it from MyFonts. And I can't get enough.
